BIRMINGHAM – The Selma and Dallas County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Information Executive Director, Sheryl Smedley, spent a portion of Friday attending The Partnership’s Annual Meeting in support of three local finalists for statewide business awards. The Partnership, a collaboration between the Business Council of Alabama and the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama, presents awards each year for “Alabama Small Business of the Year” and “Emerging Small Business of the Year.”
“It was truly our honor to be able to nominate and support these businesses,” said Smedley. She continued, “garnering statewide attention for our local establishments not only helps to drive their sales, but also earns positive recognition for the Selma and Dallas County business community.” Sheryl went on to say that Selma and Dallas County are “Open for Business,” and that awards such as this help to spread that message around Alabama.
Across the state, only 32 enterprises were named finalists. Among this elite group were Fuller Building Supply, Mark’s Mart, and the Coffee Shoppe, all of Selma. Photos can be found below.
According to Landon L. Nichols, Jr., “It is a major honor that so many of our local establishments were selected as finalists. These three businesses were in direct competition with those from much larger metro areas, but through their service excellence and dedication to our community, they earned their spot at the top.”
If you would like more information on any of these organizations, please don’t hesitate to contact us at the Chamber. We look forward to continuing our representation and support of our many local businesses. For more information, visit us at www.selmaalabama.com or give us a call at (334)875-7241.
