ArtsRevive is pleased to open registration for its 15th annual juried art competition. The show has grown significantly over the past several years in size and popularity, and most importantly, in the quality of the submissions. Alabama Artists: Roots and Wings is a reflection of that growth. Entry for 2017 is open through Feb. 28 to artists who are from Alabama although they may now live and work elsewhere (Wings) as well as those artists who currently live in Alabama (Roots).

The ArtsRevive show has built a reputation for its varied sampling of Alabama talent at its finest. The exhibition coincides with the 152nd Battle of Selma Re-enactment allowing patrons from across the south the opportunity to admire the work of our Alabama artists. The show will be held in the Charlie “TinMan” Lucas Gallery at 9 Lauderdale Street in the heart of historic downtown Selma.

Jamie Adams is an Alabama based sculptor and printmaker whose artistic process derives from a childhood spent in a profoundly religious family in the Deep South. Now, spirituality continues to be a prominent theme in his work. His art is characterized by vibrant colors, allusions to art history and pop culture, and an insistent uses of new technologies in his work. Adams’ work has received many awards, including awards at the Edinboro Print National, Ceramics Biennial in Manchester, NH and at the Gulf States Rising Exhibition at the George Ohr Museum. He has exhibited his artwork in many group and solo exhibitions, from Missouri to Washington. Adams currently serves as Division Chair of Fine Arts at Judson College in Marion.
