CCA to Hold Veteran’s Day Event
[Selma, AL] Concordia College Alabama will be holding a Veteran’s Day ceremony and lunch on Friday, November 11 for all local veterans. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the college’s Wright Complex Auditorium and lunch will be served following the service. The event is being co-sponsored by the CCA Honors Program, Rosa J. Young Center for Women, and Division of Health Sciences.
The college has also partnered with the local Selma Walmart to participate in the Greenlight a Vet campaign, a national initiative created by Walmart to honor veterans. Walmart has donated green light bulbs to Concordia to help light up the campus in green during the month of November as a symbol of support for veterans.
“We are honored to partner with our local Walmart for the second year in a row to honor our veterans. They truly deserve our gratitude,” said Dr. Chinwe Okeke, honors program coordinator.
About Greenlight a Vet
Greenlight A Vet is a campaign to establish visible national support for our veterans by changing one light to green in a visible location during the month of November. Participants are also encouraged to share their photos of their support on social media with the hashtag #GreenlightAVet. To learn more, visit the campaign website http://www.greenlightavet.com/.
